Hoisin Sauce

IngredientsHoisin Sauce

  • ½ cup coconut aminos or soy aminos
  • ¼ cup sunflower seed butter (peanut butter will not work as substitute)
  • 4 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
  • 1 dried date or fig, pit and stem removed
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, ground


  1. Place all the ingredients in a blender or food processor (be careful if using a food process, it may splash out while it mixes) and puree until smooth.
  2. Allow the flavors to melt about 10 minutes before serving.
  3. Store covered up to 2 weeks.
